Getting from the airport to central Copenhagen

Airport information

By train
At the end of terminal 3 at Copenhagen International Airport there is direct access to a train station. There are lifts and travolators between the platforms and Terminal 3. You can take the free shuttle bus which runs between Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, where the station is located. The bus journey lasts about 5 minutes. From the train station you have a twelve-minute train ride to the Central Station in Copenhagen - in Danish called Hovedbanegården. During the day trains run regularly every ten minutes.

Tickets are available from the DSB ticket office above the railway station in Terminal 3. Tickets and travel cards (for the Copenhagen and Northern Zealand HT-zone) are also available from ticket machines in the station area. Please note that the ticket machines do not accept notes, only coins and cards such as the Dankort, VISA, etc. The trip from the airport to central Copenhagen covers 3 zones that costs DKK 31.50 – approximately € 4.25 – and the ticket is valid for 1 hour. Travel within the central Copenhagen area covers 2 zones that cost DKK 21 - approximately € 2.8 – and the ticket is also valid for 1 hour.

By metro
The Metro station is located at the end of Terminal 3 and is covered by the roof of the terminal. The Metro operates at 4-6 minutes’ intervals during the day and evening hours and every 15 minutes during the night. The Metro operates from five o'clock in the morning until midnight. Friday - Sunday the Metro operates round the clock. The travel time from the airport to Nørreport Station in central Copenhagen is 15 minutes and to Copenhagen Business School – stop at Frederiksberg - is approximately 25 minutes.

Tickets for the Metro are available at the Metro station and at the DSB ticket sales counter in Terminal 3. Please note that the ticket machines do not accept notes, only coins and cards such as the Dankort, VISA, etc. A single ride ticket from Copenhagen Airport to the city centre costs DKK 31.50 – approximately € 4.25 – and the ticket is valid for 1 hour. A three-zone multi-ride ticket with ten clips (rides) costs DKK 170.

By taxi
Taxis are available at the airport. You will find them in front of Terminals 1 and 3. A Taxi from the airport to central Copenhagen costs approximately 300 DKK. Taxis accept cash and most major credit cards.

Getting to Copenhagen Business School

CBS is a campus university with five main buildings in Frederiksberg, a municipality encapsulated by Copenhagen. It is unique in that it has three metro stations connecting all the buildings and allowing fast and easy access to downtown Copenhagen (6 minutes) and the airport (21 minutes). You can also get to CBS by bus: number 18 (Falkoner Alle), 29 (Nyelandsvej), 39 og 100S (Nordre Fasanvej).

Tickets
A single-ride (two-zone) ticket costs DKK 21 while a two-zone multi-ride ticket with ten clips (rides) costs DKK 130 (as of May 2008). The two-zone ticket allows you to ride unlimited on busses and/or metro for one hour - Cash tickets can be bought on busses (do not bring large notes) and inside all train and Metro stations. The multi-ride tickets are also available in most kiosks/newspaper stands and supermarkets. You may choose to purchase a Copenhagen Card that allows you to ride all public transportation as much as you like at no extra charge.

Tickets validity
• Tickets / stamped ten-trip cards for 2 and 3 zones are valid for one hour.
• Tickets / stamped ten-trip cards for 4, 5 and 6 zones are valid for 1.5 hours.
• Tickets / stamped ten-trip cards for all zones are valid for 2 hours. 

 A few practical tips

Language
The mother tongue of Denmark is Danish. Most Danes however speak English and quite a few people have a good knowledge of German and/or French.

Currency
Though Denmark is part of the European Union they still have their own currency - the Danish Krone. In the city centre there are many banks with ATM's and currency exchange places for exchanging most foreign currencies to Danish Kroners. There is an ATM at the CBS campus as well located at Solbjerg Plads.

Banks
Normal banking hours are from Monday - Wednesday and Friday between 09.30 and 16.00. On Thursdays, banking hours are extended to 18.00. Extended banking facilities are available at Copenhagen Central Railway Station (Hovedbanegården) 7 days/week between 07.00 and 21.00 hrs.

Shopping Hours
Shops are open from 09.30/10.00 to 17.30/18.00 Monday to Friday. A few department stores in the city have longer opening hours. On Saturdays, shops are open until 13.00/16.00. During the summer period some shops are open on Sundays.

Entertainment, Eating and Drinking
Copenhagen and Frederiksberg have a wide variety of restaurants, cafés, theatres and bars.

Tipping
Tips are always included in the prices given in taxis and restaurants.

The local time in Denmark is Central European Time (GMT + 1 hour)

Danish summer weather is generally very pleasant with an average temperature of around 20°C, but some rain and grey skies do occur. Find the Danish weather.

Insurance and Medical Treatment
We recommend you to obtain insurance before you come to Denmark.

Travel Documents
As Denmark is part of the European Union citizens of the EU do not need a visa to enter Denmark. If you are not sure whether you need a visa you can check an updated list of residents who need a visa. You can indicate on the registration form if you need an official invitation because of your visum.
The valid document for people coming from countries of the European member states is the ID card, while people coming from other countries must have a passport.
